Policy Communication Programmes

From disseminating research to mastering advocacy, I offer programmes targeted at researchers in public policy, social science and physical sciences as well as communication and advocacy professionals to magnify their reach and impact in public policy.

1. “From Research to Impact: Disseminating Policy Research Effectively”

From framing policy problem statements to publishing the final report, effective communication is integral to public policy.  In this programme, researchers will learn how to demystify their research writing through effective writing and communication strategies, convert research into impactful communication formats for relevant audiences, and be oriented to the landscape of public policy communications.

2. “Advocacy and Policy Communications”

Public policy advocacy is about persuasion – a skill crucial for professionals in public policy, law, politics, non-profits, and business. It involves shaping opinions, engaging with policymakers, and driving positive change. In this programme, participants will learn through case studies and practical exercises in applying techniques of the trade in advocacy, policy communications, and how to make compelling pitches and campaigns that leave a lasting impact.

3. “Art of Science Communication in Public Policy”

Despite its growing significance in public policy, scientific research and writing remain largely confined to specialists due to their inherent technical complexities. Further, there is a growing demand for high-quality research as new public policies encompassing health, science, and technology research take shape in India. This underscores the need for effective science communication that distils, demystifies, and deepens understanding of complex ideas to drive action. In this programme, science researchers will learn to bridge the gap between research writing and public policy to address societal problems effectively. Participants will be oriented to public policy communications, and learn to apply the 7 principles of effective writing, frame key messages, repurpose research for relevant audiences, and design and deliver stellar presentations.
